Joomla

Joomla is an award-winning open source content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets. Its is built using a model–view–controller (MVC) Web application framework that can also be used independently. Joomla branched out from Mambo in 2005.

• Joomla first release v1.0.0 was on September 16, 2005.
• The Joomla development team created a web site called OpenSourceMatters.org to distribute information to the community in general.

• The word "Joomla" is the Anglicized spelling of the Swahili word jumla meaning “all together” or “as a whole.
• Joomla won the Packt Publishing Open Source Content Management System Award in both 2006 and 2007
